Climate Action Hobart calls upon the Tasmanian Government to recognise the urgency of acting now to prevent dangerous climate change and to ensure a safe climate for all Tasmanians by:


Action 1):  Setting targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Tasmania by 60% by 2020 over 1990 levels, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, including detailed plans as to how these targets will be met.


Action 2):  Acting immediately to protect Tasmania's carbon-rich native forests.


Action 3):  Setting out a strategy to reduce total energy use in Tasmania by 20% by 2020.


Action 4):  Setting out a strategy to achieve 100% renewable electricity in Tasmania by 2020.


Action 5):  Introducing binding State Planning Policies to promote sustainable cities and regions in Tasmania.


Action 6):  Investing to make public and low carbon transport the preferred mode of transport for Tasmanian commuters.


Action 7):  Facilitating just transitions to a low-carbon future for Tasmanian workers, businesses and communities.


Action 8):  Setting out a strategy to promote sustainable local food production, sustainable consumption and healthy lifestyles in Tasmania.


Action 9):  Setting out a strategy to eliminate 'waste' and to re-use recovered resources in Tasmania.


Action 10):  Promoting climate justice and climate education in Tasmania.
